New Priory Vets Brighton Limited is set up for urgent and emergency cases (listed as providing emergency veterinary services, including 24/7/extended-hours cover) and also operates as a veterinary nurse training facility. Recent reviews describe both high-pressure emergency support (for example, being seen “within 10 minutes” after a road-traffic accident) and longer inpatient care (including an 11‑day hospital stay for haemorrhagic gastroenteritis with complications). End-of-life care is a recurring use case too, with one owner describing a dedicated “quiet garden room” for euthanasia and being given time to say goodbye.
Feedback is mixed: alongside detailed praise for communication and compassion in emergencies and euthanasia appointments, some owners report serious concerns—such as a dental procedure followed by bleeding and subsequent sepsis (as alleged by the reviewer), and complaints about slow or unresponsive insurance-claim processing and facilities described as “old and grubby and dated.”

It has been a few months since this occurred but after sitting with it I feel like I have to say something. My dog was happy and healthy before we took him to New Priory where he passed away after a series of what I can only see as grave errors and oversights from the team. He went in for basic teeth surgery and was not taken care of in the aftermath, resulting in the vets sending him home heavily bleeding from the nose. Overnight he breathed this blood in, the blood the vets told us was not concerning and was fine, and as a result developed sepsis. The care he recieved was not the only shocking thing, however. The vets consistently spoke about money and asking us how we would be paying them to fix the errors they made. They were also incredibly insensitive in the aftermath, delaying us getting his ashes after forcing us to pay them for them as it would take too long to claim on insurance. I am appalled by this vet, their ethos is shaped by money, not a care for animals.

Was referred to New Priory by our usual vets for emergency care for our dog. Although the care she received was of an acceptable standard, the issue is that New Priory do not process insurance claims within any reasonable timeframe. It's been two weeks since we visited and still no sign of a claim being submitted to our insurer and no response to multiple e-mails and phone calls on the topic. In the meantime, our vet who we saw earlier the same day submitted the claim within hours of our visit and the claim has been paid out. The summary is that New Priory charge premium prices but provide a sub-par experience. On a related note, the facility itself is old and grubby and dated. When it costs £1,500 for your dog to be in hospital for a less than 6 hours, you really wonder where that money goes, because it's definitely not going to upkeep of the facilities or towards having enough staff to process insurance claims. I will avoid New Priory based on my experience and I would encourage you to do the same. UPDATE AFTER RESPONSE FROM OWNER: 1. You'll note how long it took them to respond to this review (over 4 months). Could not have made my point around the slowness any more clear. 2. Not so much of a mention of the conditions of the facilities. This is NOT a nice place for your pet to spend their final hours (as was the case for ours). The ultra-premium prices do not get you an ultra-premium experience, and there appears to be no desire to acknowledge or address that.

I cannot fault this practice for their consistently kind and compassionate treatment of our elderly dog, Dotty, when she got very sick while we were on holiday in Sussex and after a night of emergency care, had to be euthanized. They have a quiet garden room where they euthanize pets and we were given time to sit with her and say goodbye. All the staff knew what was happening and treated us with so much care and gentle handling. They didn’t know us or Dotty, but they treated her like she was one of the family. We’ve had a fair amount of contact with the office team since then to deal with admin and bills and they’ve been really lovely to work with at such a horrible time. Big thank you to everyone at New Priory, particularly vet Megan, who was our vet the morning we said goodbye to our Dot. She completely understood the situation and was very kind to Dotty and to our family.

I can’t thank these amazing people enough for helping me and my dog Randy after he had an accident where he got hit by a car, he was seen within 10minutes of me phoning up as an emergency. The staff are incredibly helpful and considerate. If there were more stars i would give them more. They helped tremendously and have always been incredible to us. Thank you all!!

One of our cats, Pop, was poorly over the Bank Holiday. Our usual vet was closed but forwarded us to New Priory Vets. The team there was very helpful. Roz the vet gave Pop an injection and emailed his file to our vet so we can follow up. We were very happy with the help our furbaby received and would highly recommend this vet.

My kids lost our beloved sheepdog last night. New Priory Vets gave her sanctuary overnight and fed her in the morning. Great community spirit! Thank you!

We wanted to say thank you to the team at New Priory Vets for looking after our little Lola. She became incredibly unwell with haemorragic gastroenteritis and spent 11 days in hospital with lots of complications, requiring intensive treatment. We were a little unsure at first as New Priory is not our usual vet and we had to establish trust very quickly when Lola became critically unwell. We genuinely think the prompt and compassionate care by the team at New Priory Brighton saved her life. We finally have her back home and she is recovering well and slowly returning back to her usual mischief, which brings us incredible joy. A special thank you to Roz, Carla, Megan, Hannah and Tasha for showing us and Lola incredible compassion and outstanding care, and to Amelia and the reception team for being incredibly caring when we were struggling. Thank you, sincerely, for getting our girl back home to us. 🩷 Anna, Faye and little Lola
